Whether you have a modest gun collection or an ever-growing arsenal, finding the right storage solution is crucial for maintaining safety, easy access, and an appealing display. Traditional options like bulky safes or wooden cabinets often lack the customization and aesthetic many firearm owners crave. That’s where Spartan Mounts® come in, offering a durable, minimalistic, and modular approach to firearm storage—without the hassle of pegboards or slatwalls.
In this guide, we’ll show you how to create the ultimate gun room using Spartan Mounts® products. You’ll learn:
Space-Efficient
Instead of taking up floor space (like a large safe or cabinet might), Spartan Mounts® utilize vertical wall storage. This frees up valuable real estate and allows you to display your firearms in a neat, easily accessible layout.
Secure & Durable
Each mount is made from high-quality materials designed to hold firearms securely. With proper installation (we’ll show you how below), you can trust your rifles, shotguns, and handguns to stay in place—no wobbling or risk of damage.
Minimalist Aesthetic
Spartan Mounts® are low-profile yet sturdy, letting your firearms be the focal point rather than an oversized storage system. You can achieve a sleek, modern look that’s completely different from bulky safes or wooden cases.
No Pegboards or Slatwalls
Many wall-mounted systems rely on pegboards or slatwalls. While functional, they require more extensive setup and can look industrial. Spartan Mounts® attach directly to drywall or solid backing, simplifying installation and offering a cleaner overall appearance.
Before we dive into how to set up your Spartan Mounts®, here’s a quick comparison of the major gun storage options:
Gun Safes
Display Cabinets & Cases
Floor Racks
Spartan Mounts® (Wall-Mounted Racks)
Your gun room should be more than just a closet with rifles leaning against the wall. With Spartan Mounts®, you can transform any spare bedroom, basement, or dedicated space into a showroom-like display. Here’s how:
Plan Your Layout
Optimize Accessibility
Think About Lighting
Incorporate Decor and Safety Elements
One of the key advantages of Spartan Mounts® is the flexibility to showcase your firearms horizontally or vertically—whichever best fits your space or aesthetic.
Tip: If you’re unsure which orientation to choose, mix and match. Mount some firearms vertically and others horizontally to create an interesting visual flow.
A gun room isn’t just about the firearms themselves—it’s also about storing all the extras that make your shooting experience seamless. Spartan Mounts® offers specialized racks and mounts for:
Magazines
Keep your magazines sorted by caliber or firearm type. You’ll always know where to find the right mag, whether it’s a standard AR-15 mag or a higher-capacity option for your favorite pistol.
Optics & Scopes
Mount extra scopes or optics to the wall for easy swapping between firearms. This ensures each accessory has its own designated spot.
Slings, Holsters & Gear
Hang slings, holsters, or belts in a convenient place so you can gear up quickly. This also keeps them untangled and in top condition.
Designate a corner or separate wall as your “accessory station.” Group your accessories logically (e.g., by firearm type or gear function). Not only will this look great, but it also makes your entire setup more efficient.
One major advantage of Spartan Mounts® is straightforward installation—no slatwall or pegboard required. Here’s how to do it:
Mounting to Drywall
Mounting to Solid Backing (Studs, Wood, Concrete, etc.)
Position & Mark
Drill Pilot Holes
Insert Drywall Anchors (If Applicable)
Screw in Place
Hang Your Firearm
Personalize Your Display
Regularly Inspect Mounts
Leverage Vertical & Horizontal Space
1. Can I install Spartan Mounts® in a closet with limited space?
Absolutely. Measure your closet walls to see how many mounts you can fit. Consider placing rifles horizontally if vertical space is tight. The low-profile design of Spartan Mounts® is perfect for compact areas.
2. Will the mount damage my drywall over time?
Not if installed correctly. Spartan Mounts® come with sturdy drywall anchors rated for up to 65 lbs. Proper installation ensures minimal wall impact and long-term security for your firearms.
3. Is there a weight limit?
Each mount and anchor is rated to hold typical rifles, shotguns, and handguns without issue. For exceptionally heavy or specialized firearms, mount directly into studs or solid backing for extra peace of mind.
4. How do I keep my firearms safe from children or visitors?
You can secure the entire room with a locked door, add trigger or cable locks to each firearm, or even use a small biometric lock box for handguns. Always follow your local laws and best practices regarding firearm storage.
5. Do I need special Spartan Mounts® for accessories or optics?
Spartan Mounts® offers products designed for different firearm types and accessories. Check the product listings or contact customer support to find the mount that best fits your needs—whether it’s for scopes, magazines, or tactical gear.
Transforming your space into a show-stopping firearm display doesn’t have to be complicated. This piece is so simple yet so perfect for being able to mount your AR so that it's located in the perfect spot for quick access, when seconds count.
I've just received my 7th different mag mount from Spartan. Some of which I have more than one of. I use round neodymium magnets to mount them inside of my safe, which work incredibly well, and allow for customization without drilling holes all over the place. Which is good for someone like me because I am always acquiring more mags. If you're looking to organize magazines in your safe, Spartan products are good to go. I cannot comment on weapon mounts, as I have none of those. That said, I assume they are as good as the mag mounts.
Items owned:
AR-15 hanging mag mount
CZ Scorpion hanging mag mount
Glock hanging mag mount
Beretta 92fs hanging mag mount
UMP45 hanging mag mount
MP5 standing mag mount
12ga shell holder
All of these products are fantastic, and I would absolutely purchase again.
100% satisfied with all the Spartan products owned.
Got this and 2 AR mounts, they are super easy to set up and work just as they should. Holds fully loaded rifle/magazines with no issues. Easy to install, great addtion.
The product does exactly what I bought it for. What else can you ask for? Great product.
Exactly what I have been searching for. Solid 3D printing and fitment. Will purchase future needs from Spartan.
Good quality 3D printed pistol stand. I am definitely happy with the purchase.
I don't have a lot of room for an elaborate gun wall, but this allowed me to post this up behind my door and ready for anything. I sleep better knowing it's right there when/if I need it. Looks cool too!
Absolutely love this very sturdy!!!
Owned one for four years and it cracked from stress. Spartan replaced it immediately no questions asked with a better model. They stand behind their products. I would not hesitate to purchase another. Great customer service.
I have a hansen escort, what shot gun mount would work for it?
Very nice holder fits very well..customer service is great!!
Good overall results. I ordered the mount for a VR-80. My latch didn't lock into the mount. Emailed Spartan and they immediately sent a paid label to return the faulty mount, and shipped a replacement. It also failed with my shotgun. So they suggested that I try a Typhoon 12 mount and it locked. Problem solved.
